Revolutionizing mobility for the impaired with our all-terrain vehicle

Introduction
My name is Sigurd Groven, and I am co-founder of Exotek AS, a Norwegian company specializing in all-terrain vehicles for people with mobility impairments. My passion for mountain biking and cycling was a huge part of my life before an accident changed everything. From downhill to road racing and cross country, cycling was not just a hobby, but a lifestyle.
I am a trained physical therapist and once ran my own clinic and gym, which also housed a CrossFit box. However, during a downhill run in 2015, my life changed in an instant when I crashed into a tree, resulting in a complete C7/T1 spinal cord injury.
The challenges of a new life
The years following my injury were challenging. I attempted to continue my work as a physical therapist, but the chronic nerve pain and lack of core muscle function made it too difficult. My family, including my five beautiful children and my incredible wife, struggled alongside me as we adjusted to our new normal.
Despite these hardships, I found joy in life again, thanks in part to my supportive network of family and friends, and a fulfilling new career path.
Two of my teenage sons are competitive cyclists and I follow them everywhere! As long as I have the right gear, I can (as both a dad and husband) be included in almost everything. We do in fact lead a very normal life and in spite of my mobility impairments we always find a way.
During the summer months we travel all over Europe where my sons are competing in downhill racing. As long as I have my Exoquad I can follow them around everywhere. The Exoquad has become imperative for my quality of life! And not to forget; it means just as much to my family. I am very aware of my privilege, and I feel extremely fortunate to have access to such an excellent mobility aid.
Exotek AS and the Birth of the Exoquad
At Exotek AS, we specialize in creating all-terrain vehicles for people with mobility impairments. Our flagship product, the Exoquad, is a fully electric 4WD vehicle that offers an experience of autonomy and personal freedom. It's ideal for all terrains and conditions, providing our customers the opportunity to engage in various outdoor activities like hiking, hunting, and fishing.
The Exoquad is a testament to power and innovation with its 350 newtons of torque, 6000 watts, and up to 4200 mAh of battery capacity. It's designed to bring unparalleled range and accessibility to our customers, enabling them to reach places they've longed for.
As someone who directly understands the needs of our customers, my partner and co-founder Mattias Storvestre and I have dedicated ourselves to creating a product that offers extreme accessibility, something missing in the current market.Mattias`s wife is also spinal cord injured so we sort of know what people need and want when investing in mobility aids.
Life with the Exoquad
For me, the Exoquad was a life-changer. It enabled me to actively participate in family activities and adventures, which were previously inaccessible. It represents not just mobility but freedom, inclusion, and the ability to experience the beauty of nature up close.
Why Choose the Exoquad?
Regular physical activity is crucial for maintaining both physical and mental well-being. Exoquad off-road wheelchairs provide users with an opportunity to engage in outdoor activities, promoting a more active lifestyle. The enhanced mobility not only contributes to better mental health and also plays a vital role in reducing the risk of secondary health issues associated with isolation and depression.
The mental health benefits are profound and I can truly say that I consider my life post-injury as life before and after The Exoquad!. The sense of liberation and accomplishment that comes with navigating challenging terrains fosters a positive mindset, boosting self-esteem and confidence. Our customers that use The Exoquad on a daily or weekly basis report improved mood, reduced stress levels, and an overall enhanced quality of life.
Beyond Mobility: The Exoquad Experience
One of the most significant challenges faced by people with disabilities is the sense of isolation resulting from limited mobility. The Exoquad is not just a mode of transportation; it is a tool of social inclusion! With a newfound ability to join friends and family on outdoor excursions, individuals using Exoquad experience a newfound sense of belonging. The Exoquad will also open doors to participation in community events, and recreational activities. Whether it's a local nature walk, a sports event, or a community festival, individuals with disabilities can actively participate and contribute to the vibrancy of their communities.
Social Inclusion and Community Engagement with the Exoquad
Independence is a core aspect of a fulfilling life. The ability to navigate challenging terrains independently transforms daily life, from simple tasks like accessing outdoor spaces to more complex activities like shopping or commuting in rural areas. Moreover, the Exoquad's user-friendly design and intuitive controls empower individuals with various levels of mobility impairment, offering a customizable experience that meets everyones unique needs. This level of independence not only enhances daily life but also opens up new opportunities for education, employment, and personal growth.
Redefining Independence
Traditional wheelchairs are often limited to paved surfaces, restricting users from venturing into rough terrains. The Exoquad, however, breaks down these barriers by offering off-road capabilities that empower users to explore the great outdoors. Whether it's navigating through forest trails, sandy beaches, or rocky landscapes, individuals with disabilities now have the freedom to embark on adventures that were once deemed impossible.
Conclusion
The introduction of Exoquad off-road wheelchairs represents a significant leap forward in assistive technology, breaking down physical barriers and transforming the lives of individuals with disabilities. Beyond the improved mobility, these innovative devices offer a pathway to adventure, physical well-being, social inclusion, and independence. As we witness the positive impact of this groundbreaking technology, it becomes evident that the future holds even greater promise for enhancing the quality of life for people facing mobility challenges.
